The Russell Highton Foundation has a strategic objective to improve the review of DVT patients. To make sure that all staff in hospitals are trained in the area of DVT/PE the most preventable death in hospitals.
Hospitals need to:
1. Review the general principles for improving adherence through the correct guidelines.
2. Explore the role the case manager plays in improving patient adherence and transitioning care.
3. Review the science of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) including the correct aftercare.
4. Cite common risk factors that are related to the development of DVT
5. Discuss available prophylactic measures and associated treatment protocols for DVT.
6. Explore the role of the physician, clinical nurse in coordinating a significant focus on prophylaxis treatment.
7. Name key quality indicators associated with the prevention of DVT.
8. Explore the main principles for improving adherence and their implementation in individuals “at risk” of DVT.
As you can imagine there are many more objectives that we could mention. We would like these implemented in hospitals as they aren't adhering to the correct training they're just letting incompetence and failures rule the wards. The hospital and staff are all to blame for the deaths of DVT patients on the wards it shouldn't happen.
